With the development of information level, and more and more people moving into cities,China Unicom is constructing and optimizing WCDMA and GSM networks. WCDMA is oneof the3G standards, which offers good service sense to users by high data rate. China Unicomwas starting to construct WCDMA network, and after several years construction andoptimization, currently the WCDMA is profitable. With the expansion of user number andservices, the network traffic is increasing constantly. It is needed to optimize theinteroperation of2G/3G networks for improving the usage of WCDMA network and makingusers to stay in3G network as more as possible, and lowering the traffic of GSM network.The optimization of the interoperation of2G/3G networks will improve the service quality.This thesis focuses on the interoperation optimization of Suizhou Unicom GSM/WCDMAnetworks, based on the current network status. Firstly, the architecture, cell selection, cellreselection, and cell handover are discussed in detail for the interoperation of GSM/WCDMAnetworks in this thesis. Secondly, the optimization flow, the resource optimization methods ofWCDMA and GSM networks are investigated. Finally, based on the current status of SuizhouGSM/WCDMA networks, the interoperation optimization scheme for SuizhouGSM/WCDMA networks are proposed and deployed. After the optimization, the performanceof Suizhou GSM/WCDMAnetworks is improved. |
