With the continuous development of integrated circuit technology,has formed avariety of Embedded System and System On Chip technology.Embedded system is ahigh-performance special-purpose computer system,which based on technology ofcomputer,center of the application,hardware and software can be cutting,and alsobe a special computer system has the advantages of low cost,small size,low powerconsumption,high reliability and so on[1].With the development of integrated circuittechnology and integration improved greatly,the embedded System develop fromboard level to the Chip level On System,and further will develop for the System On aProgrammable Chip.While the system on programmable chip based on FPGA for itsflexible design,can be cutting,hardware and software programmable characteristicsand advantages,highly favored designers, has been widely used in military,consumer electronics,network communications, industrial control and other fields,the study of system on programmable chip has important significance.This design uses Cyclone II series EP2C8Q208C8N as the core of the system,with Altera’s Quartus II software SOPC Builder tool to set up complete hardwareplatform including FLASH,SDRAM,serial port,timer,VGA,PS2and other devices,using Nios II IDE tools for the Tetris game system software design and debugging,aswell as to the objective board for Flash download.This paper introduces the research background and system on programmablechip based on FPGA design,development process and related knowledge firstly,andintroduces the embedded system mainly divided into two parts of hardware andsoftware design.Then introduced design tools and methods of this system hardwareand software parts respectively.Hardware mainly introduces Verilog HDL languagedesigning a VGA interface to the hardware of reusable IP cores,PS2interface moduledesign and the use of SOPC Builder and Nios II CPU cores created by Nios II tools,and add FLASH,SDRAM,serial port,timer,VGA,PS2module to generate a fullNios CPU cores.Software mainly introduces Niso II soft core processor system applied to the Tetris game and realize the control function,and use C language todesign Tetris game.At last test whole of system,verify the correctness of the designscheme and feasibility based on the Nios II processor....
