According to the latest statistics released by iResearch, in2003China’s online gamemarket is only1.9billion RMB, in2002is66.18billion RMB, but in2013it has reached89.16billion RMB, compared with2012, it increased32.9%. As a cultural creative industry,the online game industry has become a new growth point of economy in our country. Theexpansion of the market also proved that more and more people choose online games ascultural consumption nowadays. For most people, material life which is increasingly richbring the narrow living space and the growing pressures of life. Online games have becomean important way for people to relax and entertainment as well as release the pressure, it meetthe psychological needs of modern people.However, because of the online game meet the psychological needs of contemporarypeople to some extent, it become a special cultural experience product which is easy toaddictive. The current mainstream news media, especially online media, it amplify andrendering extreme cases of social network gamers, the news report with "only the addiction,but no entertainment" of online gamers is extremely asymmetric with the current developmentof online game industry. Based on this, this study aims to understand how domestic networkmedia to reappearance the image of online gamers in news reports and this kind of newsreports in reappearance of online gamers image whether have inappropriate, this is how newsbias exists.The research is divided into two parts. The first part use content analysis, the studyobject is the news report of online gamers on four news website, such as People, Sina, Sohu,Netease, talking about the reappearance of online gamer image in these four sites. Accordingto the results of the research, it put forward the hypothesis that news website in reappearanceof online gamer image exist news bias. The second part use questionnaire to explore thereal-life state of online gamers, meanwhile take the general audience’s perception of onlinegame players as a proof, compared it with four site in reappearance of online gamers image. Itexplores the news bias in news report about online gamers on the four sites, and summarizedits impropriety.According to the analysis result, news website presents an obvious negative "newspicture" in reappearance of online gamer image. First,The online game is "spiritual opium", there is no resistance for online gamers to online games, the phenomenon of online gameaddiction is widespread. Second, online games have great adverse effects on network gameplayers, it easily appear cognitive ambiguity and confusion between the virtual world and realworld, even mimic the behavior of the game which can led to deviant criminal or othernegative behavior. Third, due to the online gamers too addicted to online games, game playersin order to achieve their game purpose, they usually do it by hook or by crook, thus appeardeviant crime such as theft, robbery, etc. and other negative behaviors.The analysis of online game players in real life state found that, first, only a handful ofonline gamers tend to indulge in online games, they cannot fully control their game behaviorand game time; Second, most of the gamers can be reasonable and effective to conduct andcontrol their game behavior and game time basically, and not addicted to online games; Third,the effects and extent of the impact of online gamers is very limited, it can be said that there isno effect or little effect to the players in real life. Thus, few gamers so addicted to onlinegames that cause deviant crime or other negative behavior.Through the comparative analysis of reappearance of online gamer image between thenews media and the reality state of gamers, it proved that mainstream news sites inreappearance of online gamer image existed not objective and unbalanced phenomenon,which means there is news bias existed in reappearance of online gamer image on mainstreamnews sites. In the reports about reappearance of online gamer image, this four news sitedeliberate emphasis on the negative image of gamers, it lead to media bias and media-orientedbias.In the final part of this study, the author carry on a brief analysis to the reasons for theformation of news bias, and put forward some opinions and suggestions to the news reportabout online game and online gamers in our country.In this case, the news media shouldchange the concept of news report in time, initiate to undertake social responsibility, and havea correct guidance of public opinion. In the news coverage of online games and its players,news media should always uphold the principle of balanced and objective, return to newsstandard, constantly improve the level of news reports and skills, avoid the emergence ofnews bias effectively, and guide people have an objective and rational view of the onlinegames and players.
