Since the introduction of television media in China in 1958, the development of Chinese television industry has gone through about a half century. This industry has rocketed particularly after the launch of the Reform and Opening Up policy in 1978. Not only the television has become the primary mass media, but also the entertainment and information websites based on TV programs are turning into the vital nexus between the outside physical world and people's inward world. Among various TV programs, TV news programs are the most substantial and prominent ones because they provide people with crucial information of the outside world. More important, they are fundamental tools of all TV stations to serve the duties of communication and compete in media market. City TV station news programs are important components and links of the television media system in mainland China.Because of their essential roles in the economic development and many natural advantages, City TV stations have more connections with local people and flexibilities compared to the Province TV stations and Central TV stations. Each City TV station has its characteristics on account of the economic development level and comprehensive strength of the city. A mainstream news program of a City TV station can be defined as a combination of anchor-desk reporting and live coverage which brings the audience news and headlines in a fast-moving, timely, brief and objective manner.
