The Study On The Library Reader Services Of Medical University In Network Environment

With the fast development of modern technology and medical studies, traditional medicine has been replaced by a new comprehensive subject and medical studies begins to use the new method and perspective in medical field. On the other side, it’s necessary for medical college libraries to keep up with the fast pace of the change, because modern computer, network and telematic have been widely adopted to push the information age and the knowledge economy forward. It is not only an important opportunity but a challenge for medical college library to develop in this network environment. Under this situation, medical university library should keep pace with the times and try to develop other services with the help of the network environment and the idea of breaking the original regular service. Medical college libraries should implement the idea of people-oriented and reader-centered to serve the readers better. On the basis of theoretical research, this paper combines network survey research, documents and survey research together in search of good research methods. It also adopts qualitative analysis to analyze the result of the study in the four sides:First, summarize the medical college library reader service domestic and foreign research present situation. Through domestic and international literature review, found that the reader service of Medical University Library at present mainly covers ten aspects:the overview of medical university library services, SDI service, personalized service, medical information service socialization, evidence-based medicine, reference, reader service, interlibrary loan, document delivery service, bibliographic information service, competitive intelligence service.Secondly, this article researches the service’s actuality of our medical university libraries via the Internet, counting and analyzing the amount of the readers on the basis of the investigation. This paper chooses ten medical college libraries as the object. It analyzes the libraries’ service via the Internet and compares the service by the way of analyzing it in two different methods. The methods include routine service and special service.(video resources, reading therapy guidance).Again, focus on the needs of Medical University Library Service for readers in China and deficiency. From the theoretical level, analysis of the service users of Medical University Library level, according to the current network environment into account, this paper found that the medical university library user’s information needs are different, but Medical University Library in service with different degree of problems, mainly includes the following aspects:ideological stereotypes, service object is limited, only to meet the school teachers and students comprehensive quality; reader service personnel that librarian is not high; reader service lack of initiative; characteristics of reader service less and low; the reader’s information literacy is not high, and lead to low utilization rate of information resources; for the library information resources and services of publicity is not in place.Last, for the deficiencies in the service of our medical college libraries, this paper gives some proposals and strategies. It includes changing ideas and broadening the scope of the service, Strengthening the training of Librarians’ character and introducing high-level talent; adhering to the philosophy of people-oriented and Strengthening the individualized information service,; Strengthening evidence-based medical services; setting up the characteristic collection and developing the characteristic service; enhancing the information quality education of readers and improving readers’ information quality; Sharing library resources and cyber source; strengthening cooperation between the libraries and realizing the socialization of service for readers; emphasizing the initiative service consciousness.
