At present, the high rate of optical fiber transmission technology has been widely usedin all kinds of backbone network. Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) because of itslow cost and technology maturity reliability has become the first choice of relevantoperators plan, and the10Gbit/s Ethernet Passive Optical Network is1Gbit/s EthernetPassive Optical Network smooth upgrade, which give attention to two or morethings1Gbit/s business and10Gbit/s business. At the same time,10Gbit/s EPON symmetric OLToptical module is10Gbit/s EPON asymmetric OLT optical module upgrade, it directly willuplink rate widen to10.3125Gbps and be contented by the user greatly to ascendingbandwith needs. So it is the favour to the operators.10G EPON is based on IEEE Std802.3av standard passive optical networktechnology. And10G EPON symmetric OLT optical module make downstream rateincreased10times than before. It is perfect matching with the bandwidth plan of thedomestic telecommunications operators.10G EPON can support the domestictelecommunications operators to achieve the goal of long-term planning, the operation inIDC, the business of the government and business customers and continued developmentof family customers. As the core of EPON, OLT optical module will have a directinfluence of the entire10G EPON system in the operation of the market.The downstream sending radio signal wavelength of10G EPON symmetric OLToptical module are respectively for1490nm and1577nm, and its rate are1.25G and10.3125G. Its upstream adopt the technology of TDMA and can burst receiving the1.25Gor10G rate upstream signal.This paper is intended to design a10G EPON symmetric OLT XFP transceiver, whichis meet international standard. The paper consists of four parts:Firstly, this paper introduces the development trend of pon technology and status ofoptical modules in home and abroad, briefly describes the correlative standard of10GEPON encapsulation and pins definition of OLT optical module.Secondly, this paper expatiates designing overall scheme and the selecting of optical device of OLT optical module. Then, it works up three parts such as10G EML laser,1.25GDFB laser and10G detector theory design.Third, this paper expatiates the circuit design of10G EPON symmetric OLT opticalmodule. It works three parts such as transmitting circuit part, receiving circuit part andmonitor circuit part.At last, it is approved that the performance of the OLT optical module can meet theinternational standard by experiment and the full thesis is summarized.
