The goal of network management is to realize the efficient management of network equipments, to ensure the reliable operation of the entire network, and improve the network quality of service and meet the needs of users. Currently, the scale of communication network is growing, the network equipments are more and more, and the complexity is increasing. It is a serious problem that how to effectively manage the equipment. Therefore, the research on network management technology for network communication equipments has important significance.After decades of rapid development, there are all kinds of network management model. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) has become the standard for network management. SNMP-based network management system is based on the traditional C/S architecture. It aims to manage the equipment through manage client software and proxy software, so that the network management system is powerful, stable and reliable. In addition, with the development of the Internet, it is the trend of network management that the network management technology combined with Web technology. The manager can manage the equipments which have the Web service in any location over the Internet. What’s more, the new Web technology can be used into network management, such as HTML5, cloud computing, big data processing, etc., which makes the network management system business processing ability is stronger, more intelligent, and more friend.The focus of this paper is the design and implementation of network management system, low power consumption and graphical interface network management system. On one hand, SNMP network management model and Web network management model.are in depth discussed. Then, designed and developed two models of embedded network management system relying on multi-service SDH optical transmission equipment. On the other hand, the embedded graphical interface network management, which is a newly proposed embedded network management system and relies on ROADM equipment, is studied.The main work and innovative points of the paper follows.1. SNMP network management model and protocol system is investigated, and the network management system based on SDH optical transmission equipment is proposed. And designed the equipment agent software architecture, completed the agent software, network management software for the alignment testing. The agent software possesses some features:good expansibility, feature-rich, high real-time and low power consumption performance.2. Discussed the Web network management scheme and technical standard, Web extension scheme for the traditional SNMP equipment. Also studied the Web implementation scheme based on embedded Web Server, designed the structure of the system, and completed the development of key modules. It is a big feature of the paper that using responsible design technology to make the network management system supports multiple terminal (PC, tablet and mobile phone, etc.) access.3. Studied the embedded GUI of the network management, relying on ROADM equipment. Embedded graphical software package are integrated into the device, which the management of client and agent client are integrated on the device. This network management system not only meets the requirements of traditional management, and more lightweight, flexible, low power consumption, and it is the innovation point in this paper.
