The current communications market of China is in multi-network operation mode, so the multi-mode terminal test instrument needs to support inter-RAT Interoperability of multi-mode UE. In the implementation of interoperability capabilities of the instrument, the protocol stack module simulates the RRC layer and the NAS layer of the network side to do signaling interaction with UE in the interoperation process. The contents of this paper is to extension the design for inter-RAT interoperability in the original protocol stack module based on the multi-mode terminal test instrument, the work realizes the function of inter-RAT Interoperability of the multi-mode terminal test instrument, and improves the quality of the test instrument. The contents of the paper is as follows:Chapter1introduces the background of the paper firstly, then introduces the author’s main work briefly. It introduces the architecture of the whole paper lastly.Chapter2introduces the system functions and applications of the multi-mode terminal test instrument firstly, then introduces its software and hardware components and the function of each component. Finally, it introduces the knowledge of the protocol stack associated with the instrument.In chapter3, firstly it analyses the schemes to develop the inter-RAT interoperability of the test instrument and then selects PS Handover scheme to be used. Secondly it analyses the overall signaling protocol process of PS Handover. Thirdly it analyses the execution process of PS Handover and the new interface for PS Handover.Chapter4focuses on the design of TD-SCDMA protocol stack for inter-RAT Interoperability. Firstly it introduces the architecture of the protocol stack module and the function of each part, then introduces how to do the design work for inter-RAT Interoperability. It also describes the configuration of the MobilityFromEUTRACommand message, The last part is the verification for the design.In chapter5, it summarizes the whole paper and look into the future of the development of the multi-mode terminal test instrument.
