Impacted by the global information trend, internet media is developing rapidly and providing so much benefit. It has become "the king of media". However, the imbalance of improvement in technology and consciousness of human being may lead to the overuse of internet media and cause social issues, especially to teenagers. We must help the young people to learn to survive in today’s world, which is full of images, texts and sounds.Medical students, as in a special occupational community, can severely impact to improvement of medical system by their knowledge structure, communication skill, professional attitude and personality. Nowadays, the internet media has penetrated these fields. So the internet media literacy is significant to medical students and should be a basic skill. There are two challenges in internet media literacy. Compared with rigorous course work in medical college, network media could reduce their stress because of virtuality, entertainment and privacy. Meanwhile, lack of related education in medical college may cause internet addiction and irrational behavior of medical students. Moreover, the rapid development of medical science and biotechnology poses new goals and requirements for medical personnel training. That is, in network activities, medical students should not only act as normal college students, but also have responsibility to popularize health knowledge, medical ethics and scientific medicine to public. Thus, under the complicated circumstance of current networked society, the research on education issue of internet media literacy of medical students can make up a deficiency in related field, and also the research is significant" to ideological education of medical students, optimization of medical services process and releasing of contradiction on public health care demands.This thesis contains three parts. Firstly, on the basis of existing research results, the definition of media literacy, especially internet media literacy of medical students, and the evolutionary process is expounded. Secondly, the thesis will discuss the current status of internet media literacy of medical students in detail, based on "Questionnaire about Internet Media Literacy of Medical Students" by undergraduate students in Nanjing Medical University. Descriptive statistical analyses are done from different aspects of media literacy, such as cognition, contact, skill, discernment, morality and aesthetic. Besides, Difference statistical analyses on different factors of surveyee (e.g. gender, academic year, training type) show the status of internet media literacy from various angles. At last, the thesis proposes that education system on internet media literacy for medical colleges and medical students needs to be constructed normatively with proper goals which could lead to the spontaneous generation and improvement of internet media literacy of medical students.
