With the development of science and technology in China, the state of military weapons, made more urgent requirements, need to transform a lot of equipment, it is not only the need to force modernization, but also to the international political and military situation. The emergence of FPGA greatly shorten the system development time, saving board space, more important is to have the confidentiality of the great. PCI bus is a mature and reliable technology, has become widely used household computer, bus industry computer, with high reliability. In this context, this paper combined with the practical engineering need, is completed by FGPA and PCI buscommunication, and to realize the control of the HD64570serial chip.In this thesis, the development status of FPGA, the system structure and the basic principle of PCI bus, the basic theory of FPGA+PCI design is introduced; secondly, completes the design of hardware and software. The main part of the hardware design and implementation of the FPGA unit, HD64570unit, the external communication interface unit, and a power supply unit. FPGA programming is the main part of the software, is divided into two parts, the design and implementation of PCI bus and the design of HD64570. According to the serial port chip cache capacity is small,need the processor continuously read cache, occupy a large amount of processing time problem, using DMA+FIFO mode, a good solution to the read and write speed and cache capacity problem.FPGA control serial chip technology based on this research, transformation has been successful for the product,through field test, operation showsthat, the technology is of high reliability, high working speed, greatly reducing the processing time processor. At the same time, the control module design of serial chip FPGA, convenientreference for other projects, shorten the project development cycle, reduce design errors have played a very good role.
