Opening laboratory in colleges and universities can provide an engineering practice platform for students’autonomous learning. It helps to develop students’practical ability and creative ability. At the same time, it can improve the efficiency of the equipment. However, opening laboratory management work has become more complex. It increases the workload of experiment management, increases management costs, and so on. Aim at the problem, some opening laboratory information management systems appear constantly. But most of them are not high degree of automation management because there is no computer and network equipment except the computer room.The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology provides the technical support for the opening laboratory intelligent management in colleges and universities. Opening laboratory information management system based on IoT involves the sensor technology, radio frequency identification technology, wireless communication technology, computer technology, etc. Intelligent sensory system and embedded gateway are the core parts of it.The wireless RF module CC2530is the core device to design a laboratory environment parameter sensory node, a wireless access terminal node, an intelligent power socket terminal node, and the coordinator node. These nodes self-organize a wireless sensor network (WSN) based on ZigBee protocol, and constitute the intelligent sensory system of opening laboratory to realize intellisense of the environment parameter, wireless access and automatic control of the power. The embedded gateway based on Web is designed. It can access sensory information to Internet, realize the information interaction between the server and convenient. The user can access laboratory internal resource, control intelligent sensory system by Web browser.This paper presents in detail of the hardware and software design method for the environmental parameters sensory node, the wireless access terminal node, the intelligent power socket terminal node, the coordinator node and the embedded gateway. The system debugging is completed. This system can meet the basic requirements of hardware for opening laboratory intelligent management system. It solves effectively the problems such as the automation management level is not high for traditional opening laboratory, wiring is difficult for laboratory rebuilding, environment sensing and monitoring is lack of, and so on. It can realize unmanned (or fewer people) intelligent management for opening laboratory. Thus, the management cost is saved, the efficiency of management is improved, and the management level is enhanced.
