The development of internet and sensing devices makes the rapid development of internet of Things possible. So the requirement and application of gateway are more and more as the middleware of sensing equipment and internet connectivity. The main function of internet of Things gateway is to connect various sensing devices to internet. To perceive and control all kinds of equipments through network can realize not only the wide area interconnection but also the local area interconnect. At the same time, protocol conversion between different sensor network and internet can be realized by internet of Things gateway.The unified package of the standard format datum in lower layer is ensuring that different protocols of the sensor network can be changed into unified datum and instruction, and resolved by packets issued in the upper the perception layer protocol which can identify the signals and control instructions to realize protocol conversion and transmission of information.i.MX255processor is a high-performance, low power, highly integrated multimedia application processor for the automotive sector Launched by Freescale. It is not only powerful, with an internal integration of an ARM926EJ-S core and peripherals controller, but also safe and reliable. So i.MX255processor is used as the hardware platform of gateway.The main subject of the research and design of the gateway of things based on Freescale i.MX255processor, and the main work and achievements are as follows:Firstly, based on the Freescale i.MX255processor reference platform of hardware design, this thesis redesigns the power supply module, LCD interface, network interface, camera interface and so on.Secondly, the migration steps of U-boot and linux operating system are described in detail on the i.MX255processor hardware platform, including the loading of hardware-based system configuration and linux-supported services,such as OpenVPN, SSH,etc.Thirdly, to develop a application program of gateway based on ARM linux platform, which mainly realize the function of data receiving of basic sensing devices,protocol conversion and data uploading to server.In order to verify the related application of basic research, we designed a simple system model of intelligent power management. using i.MX255processor gateway platform verifies the correctness and practicality of this thesis.
