As one of the transport solutions, traditional microwave communicationsystem can not keep up with the current wireless network development, wecannot solve the coexistence of the old and the new networks or ethernetpacket services. From the2G era microwave equipments based on TDM to3G era hybrid microwave equipments combined with IP-based technology,and then to the4G network era, microwave communication system needs anew kind of equipment more focused on data services. Packet microwavebecome the preferred solution for microwave transmission, and undoubtedlyit is the highest ground in today’s microwave industry.This thesis briefly describes the major technology of the traditionalmicrowave, and then we try to apply data packet technology to microwavesystems. Through the in-depth research of the PWE3technique to ensure asmooth transition between the old and new businesses, the MPLS OAMtechnique for the fault scenario normal operation of equipment, the QOStechnique to ensure compatibility between the various services and facilitiesand the quality of service the client, and through researching Ethernet headercompression technology we can improve the bandwidth gain. We prove akind of microwave equipment using the above four kind of techniques cansupport4G network needs theoretically.In order to verify the feasibility of packet microwave, the thesis firstlyproposed the design ideas of networking, data configuration, network QOSfrom end to end, traditional business support and synchronized clock system,and then applied to a foreign carrier packet microwave transmission networks construction. Through anslysing network ills, current situation and planning,combining advantages of packet microwave, we define packet microwavenetworking solutions and packet microwave application mode. The finalresults of the implementation of the project meet the network’s transmissionnetwork operator requirements, provide a more rapid and smoothtelecommunication services to existing end-users, meet the rising demand fornew users, improve the system of microwave networks resource utilization toget greater economic returns, which verifies the packet microwave can solvethe problem of network evolution better and expansion of the transitionbandwidth bottlenecks in the transmission network, and ultimately weobtained a packet microwave digital microwave communication networkapplications feasible.We can foresee large-scale applications of the packet microwaveequipment in the transmission network construction, and meanwhile wediscussed the idea of microwave development direction.
