Pseudo Wire Emulation Edge-to-Edge(PWE3)is a mechanism that emulates theessential attributes of a traditional L1 and L2 telecommunications service over a PacketSwitching Network(sPSN). The application of PWE3 will benefit the telecom operator.It will not only provide traditional IP service but also provide many kinds of virtualline service.This paper researches the PWE3 emulation based on PSN of Multi-protocol LabelSwitching(MPLS)and presents a new project of Pseudo Wire(PW)traffic control inaccord with signal in Label Distribution Protocol(LDP). The project resolves aproblem,which may be deficiencies in the PW emulation that impact the traffic carriedover a PW, and hence improve the applicability of this technology. Subsequently,itdiscusses some methods of PW connectivity detecting, and presents a solution onOperation and Maintenance(OAM)in PW layer. The project provides methods toefficiently detect and identify defects in the PW layer, and mechanisms for defectnotification.
