The United States is the world leader insoftware industry. Most advanced software technologies and products are inventedby American companies. The global software market share allocation roughly is: U.S.60%, Western Europe20%, Japan12%, others8%. Indeveloping countries, Indiansoftware industry has an advantageous position in world market. Chinese softwareindustry started in early1980s. China has a certain degree of software developmentand small-scale production. However, China domestic software industry is still in theearly stage of industrialization. Most software companies have not established anadaptable system of project management. In order to solve this predicament, somecompanies copy the popular project management and quality assurance system fromwestern companies. However,since the software industry has its own particularities,the companies who copied existed systems often face some unexpected situations,such as integration failed. So the effects of introducing these systems usually are notsatisfied to implementing the standardization of management for business purposesfor Chinese local companies, some of them are even making enterprises be lesseffective.This dissertation will analyze the present circumstances of project managementsoftware industry and summarize some common problems. It will also extract theessence of a variety of management theories, and combine them with industrypractices to integrate the project management and software industry.
