With the popularization of monitoring hardware in prison, the video monitoring systemis turning into the intelligentized and networked model. It links all safety information dataaround the prison together by network, so as to make the data open to all the offices. It notonly provides a guarantee for the prison safety supervision, but also greatly facilitates the realtime executive. Even so, there are many deficiencies in the traditional wired video monitoringsuch as high integrated cost, the great maintenance capacity, and complicated position processetc., and those are what restrict the application of video monitoring in prison. Consequently,this article puts forward the solution which is ARM9-based s3c2440processor as the core ofthe embedded wireless monitoring application. The whole system is composed of imageacquisition system and video surveillance terminals (the PC monitor software). The frontcameras collect the image data via V4L2technology. Packed by the H.264encoder, the datawill be transmitted by network to PC terminals. Accordingly, a complete prison wirelessvideo surveillance platform has been constructed to do great support to control the dynamicsituation of the criminals in prison.This article focuses on the embedded hardware environment construction and the designfor its application layer. The former part includes the transplantation of bootload, thetransplantation of Linux system, the production of root file system etc., and the workingconditions of the wireless network card module in the embedded environment as well. Thelatter part includes image data acquisition by V4L2, H.264encoder, and the design of theSDL function to display etc, Artificial intelligence to identify.It’s significant of the application of wireless video monitoring to ensure the safety ofprison informationization: firstly, crime scene information can be updated and queriedimmediately; secondly, unexpected events can be found in time and the police efficiency willbe greatly enhanced.
