Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a management information system formanufacturing. It is the important means and methods of implementation in the enterpriseinformation management. The data acquisition function is a very important function ofmanufacturing execution systems. It strengthens the communication between themanufacturing execution system and other systems, and solves the problem of informationgap between enterprises.First of all, the paper describes the development and application of the MES system, anddescribes the development of data acquisition function, from manual operation at thebeginning to localized data acquisition, then networked data acquisition. And then describesthe features of the electronics industry, for example, numerous products BOM (Bill ofMaterial) material and complex structure, fast product replacement and varied customerrequirements, longer material procurement cycle, the high demands of quality and reliability,etc. This paper describes the generation, development, functional and technical features ofmanufacturing execution systems. In addition, the paper also describes COM(ComponentObject Model) technology used in this paper and its advantages.Second, this paper describes the manufacturing execution system of the author’scompany, analyzes the function of the original manufacturing execution system, illustrates theexistence defects, and presents the data acquisition function’s defects about lack of data exchange with other external systems. In this paper, the original system flow optimization andfunction expansion is formulated. Then, this paper analyzes the data acquisition function’sprocess, details the function, performance and running demand of the system, and describesfuture possible expansion of the system. After, this paper presents a solution, the systemdevelops a dynamic link library through the use of the COM way, provides to the externalsystem call, and uses an XML (Extensible Markup Language) data exchange between thesystems.The end, the paper conducts a modeling for the proposed programs. The system uses theUML (Unified Modeling Language) to build the system and database model, detailed designsfeatures, database and XML SCHEMA of the system, and develops data acquisition extendedfunction by using C++language and some technical. Because the system is not directly runthe program, develops a test program, in order to achieve the system functionality test. Theend of the paper simply describes the effect after the implementation of the program, brieflysummarizes the issue and prospects for future.
