With rapid development of simulation technology, people’s needs of simulationscenario gain higher and higher. But comparing to simulation technology, simulationscenario develops too slow. So during the development of simulation system, scenario isalways ignored or sometimes is even thought as the initial data of the simulation system.And the coupling strength between the scenario generation system and the simulationsystem is too high which would do great harm to the reusability and expansibility ofsimulation scenario and the scenario generation system.Two problems from the scenario development are summarized as the analysis ofscenario which includes description content and description language, the design andapplication of the scenario generation system. Researches on simulation scenario have beendone as follows:First, a simulation scenario development method has been proposed to process thedevelopment of scenario and simulation system in parallel and two solutions are proposedto deal with two problems which are a scenario analysis design method based on themilitary conceptual model and a scenario generation system framework which ishierarchical, modular and independent from specific simulation application.Second, the concepts of the scenario elements which reflect the relationship betweenthe field concept and semantic relation of scenario elements and ensure the commonunderstanding of military description content from the developer are the summarized in thedescription content. Natural language and BNF are adopted to build the structure model ofscenario which establishes the content included in scenario and the internal structuralrelationship. XML files are adopted to describe the scenario and a mapping method ofscenario structure model to XML Schema is proposed. By the successful mapping ofscenario structure model to XML Schema, the scenario is described by XML files correctlyand unambiguously. The description model is reusable and expandable according to theneeds.Third, a hierarchical and modular system structure of the scenario generation system isdesigned. The lower level could be used by the upper level and standard interfaces areprovided by every module which lower the coupling strength between the module and thelayers greatly and make the system maintainable and expandable. The system providesvisualized scenario editing and designing environment and has friendly interactive interfaces. It could output scenario files which match the XML Schema. In general, thereusability of the scenario generation system is achieved.Finally, the mapping of two military scenario examples to simulation scenario by theproposed scenario analysis designing method verifies the usability, scientificalness andreusability of the scenario structure model and the scenario XML Schema model. Ascenario example is designed to test the scenario generation system in the need of thescenario from some distributed simulation systems.
