Military scenario is the basic premise of the warfare simulation, neither traditional military exercises nor modern computer warfare simulations can run without scenario. At present, the combat mode has changed from the previous single operational mode to the modern high-tech joint operations mode, the organization, mission, environment and level in Joint Battle are more complex than ever before. Many new issues have been put forward in the study of warfare simulation and the development of simulation scenarios, especially for the distributed and isomerism characteristics of the large warfare simulation systems. Most of the existing scenario generation systems are tightly coupled with specific platforms or systems, and with poor independence. Each of the systems uses different architecture, development technology, data structure, and storage mode with other systems, and the cooperation between systems is difficult. The application scope of the system is limited, generally just in the internal network, private network, or local. The data structure of scenario is not flexible enough to support the reducing and reforming of existing scenario data, and the reusability of scenario is poor.To this end, this dissertation designs and implements a scenario description method based on XML and a heterogeneous data transformation mechanism, develops a distributed visual scenario generation system based on Web Services and BPEL, and implements the functions such as scenario edit and rehearsal. The main works of this dissertation are as follows:1) Analyzes the major problems that the current simulation scenario generation systems are facing, discusses the advantages of using Web Services to implement the scenario generation system, designs the hierarchical system architecture based on Web Services and BPEL technology.2) Proposes a XML-based scenario description method, implements the functions of scenario data merging and reducing.3) Designs a method of heterogeneous data transformation supporting custom data mapping rules setting, implements the transformation of heterogeneous scenario data.4) Packages system functional modules with Web Services, and implements services composition based on BPEL.5) Implement the visual edit and rehearsal functions of simulation scenario based on the graphical interface of military geographic information system. The main features of this dissertation are:1) The use of XML, Web Services and other general technologies, standards and open system structure, facilitates the scalability, interoperability and reusability of the scenario generation system, and meets the future development direction of modeling and simulation.2) The system is loosely coupled with other specific simulation applications, and can rapidly reuse the scenario data regardless of the base data format' heterogeneity of C4ISR systems, warfare simulations, and legacy scenario generation systems. It makes the interoperability between different simulation systems more flexible and efficient, and implements the integration of heterogeneous simulation resources.3) The XML-based scenario description method makes the data structure of scenario have a certain degree of flexibility and scalability, and provides a guideline for the standardization of military simulation scenario development.4) The system can be deployed within the wide area network to support the collaborative development of scenario, and can improve the efficiency of scenario development. This scenario generation system has been applied in the field comprehensive exercise command and control simulation systems of military academies. It can improve the efficiency of the exercise scenario generation, achieve the interoperability between heterogeneous exercise simulation systems, and promote the scalability and reusability of legacy simulation resources.
