Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a wireless, large-scale, self-organizing, multi-hop and no infrastructure network. It is considered to be one of the technologies in the 21 st century to play an important role in human society, and there is tremendous devel-opment potential and application prospect. With the above background, the article pro-poses a WSN solution based on ZigBee technology.The thesis introduces the development of WSN at home and aborad, network structure, key technologies and applications, and gives detailed description of IEEE-802.15.4 standard and the characteristics, protocol layers and service specification of ZigBee technology. On the basis of that, this paper presents a miniature wireless sensor network system for temperature measurement. The hardware system consists of Tem-perature Acquisition Node and Data Aggregation Node. The high frequency module of two nodes are 2.4GHz RF chip CC2430 for data processing and transceiving. The soft-ware system is based on Z-Stack. We should add application programming in APP and driver programming in HAL. After programming and program transplanting, Data Ag-gregation Node can establish network successfully and the Temperature Acquisition Node joins the network automatically. Then, Temperature Acquisition Node collects temperature and sents the data to Data Aggregation Node, finally, via the serial port, the Data Aggregation Node sents the data to PC.Finally we make a test to the system. The test results show that it has flexible net-working capability and good communication quality. It is noteworthy that the distance between two communication nodes was limited to less than 50 meter and the transmit-ting period needs more than 500ms so as to ensure data transmission quality. The test results further illustrate that ZigBee is a short distance, low power and low rate wireless communication technology. It can be considered as a WSN solution, thus widely be used in industrial production, smart home, environment monitoring and other fields.
