Equipment management is an important part of business operation of modern industries.At present, with rapid development of internet technology and application of mobileOffice,some traditionalequipment management plans in enterprises can no longer satisfy thedemand of businesses in a modern society.For example, the equipment management plan ofinformation department of Yangcheng Evening News (YE News) is relatively simple, st illmanaging data utilizing spreadsheets and other forms in the same ways as last century. It isdifficult to revisethat plan when it is required to handle complicate change of businessoperations and data. For enterprises of new media, it is a worthwhile research topic how toapply internet technology and mobile terminal technology to improve equipment managementand to satisfy explosive business demand of the age of new media and information.This thesis presents the development of a Web based equipment managementinformation system incorporating the real needs of the information department of YE Newswith the application of the system in the YE News in mind. The system is designed to be ableto connect to hand set terminals and has basic mobile capability. This system will replace theexisting equipment receipt/release plan based on spreadsheets and resolve some problems ofbusiness operation that the existing plan cannot overcome.The equipment management information system described in this thesis is developedusing Browser/Server architecture, ASP.NET and SQL Server2005database. The system hasa user-friendly UI and will have all the functions required for equipment management.Thisthesis also analyze function requirements of an equipment management information system. Asystem data model is presented. A system architecture is also fundamentallydesigned.Additionally, server end and PC end are designed.The proposed system is developed based on the actual needs of equipment managementin the IT department of Yangcheng Evening News Group.It utilizes existing servers anddatabase software and satisfies the demand of routine equipment management. The system iscomprehensive for equipment management and related services. It optimizes existingworkflows, improves the efficiency of equipment management and is helpful for Office staffto do equipment maintenance. It is a successful application of current information technologyin equipment management.
