The Telephone Interface are classify into analog interface (data transfer rates between300~3600bps) and the digital interface (data transfer rate is greater than16Kbps) according to their transmission signals ways. In order to determine the quality of telephone lines, a variety of telephone line tester emerging and replacement. But analog interface tester can not meet the digital interface requirements, and the digital interface tester also can not meet the analog interface requirements. It has important theoretical and practical value to design a tester which can both measure the analog interface and digital interface.This paper use FPGA, MCU and Modem chip as the hardware platform, as well as the c language and VHDL are use as software development to achieve this special telephone line test. This design mothod can test BER, Infer, Phrase and selftest. The design of low cost, low power consumption, small size and easy to carry and applied to teste. The MCU design methods effective the performance requirements in all aspects of FPGA, thereby reducing development costs for the entire tester. The tester data transfer rate range between1200bps and160Kbps, so it can not only measure the analog interface but also the digital interface lines. Afte the debug test the BER, phase, Infer and selftest can meet the test requirements, and the tester is stable and reliable, can achieve the reliability of telephone lines for data transmission test.
