A Study On The Communication Effect Of Citizen Journalism

Communication effect of citizen journalism refers to all the effects and influences of citizen journalism on people and the social reality through communication. On the basis of the citizen journalism cases of recent years in China’s mainland, this paper analyzes the communication effect of citizen journalism from the perspective of communication sciences.First of all, this paper selects three categories of cases, namely,"public affairs","hot event" and "public opinion". And by combining the cases with the specific data, the paper states that the citizen journalism currently acts as a guide of the net public opinions hotspots. Then proceeding from the two angles of the communicators and acceptors, the paper analyzes the significant communication effect of citizen journalism in the current society. In the human aspect, with the communicator and the audience as the entry point, cases and data as support, this paper explores, relative to traditional news, what changes have taken place to the audience’s status and the relationship between impart and receive by the spread of citizen journalism. Finally it summarizes that:the dissemination of citizen journalism has broken the traditional media discourse pattern, so that people get the right to speak and the right to know to a greater extent; it has collapsed the spiral of silence in the dissemination of information and reduced the original social "digital divide" to a certain extent; subverted the agenda setting function of traditional media, and built a pseudo-environment of people; to gather public opinion with the power of leaders, help the weak and uphold social justice.But there are also some negative effects in the spread process of citizen journalism, such as:"no gatekeeper of information dissemination","Network Knowledge Gap" formation, etc will become the hidden danger to society, so these negative effects must be paid high attention in the development of citizen journalism. Legitimate means should be taken, such as:implementation of national journalism education, NRS sound, to develop the social economic and other methods to help citizen journalism develop soundly.
