At present, with the development of the information technology, web, new media, mobile Internet as the representative of the digital publishing technology is changing readers’ reading habits and information consumption habits. This lead prompting traditional news publishing industry to accelerate industrial restructuring and upgrading, accelerating the pace of digital transformation is greatly needed. In this digital wave, the power industry should do something. Traditional news publishers need to vigorously promote the digital transition to build a sustainable business model for achieving scientific development. Large international publishing and media group through a huge investment in human and financial resources, the traditional paper-based resources for digital processing, and in-depth analysis of data characteristics, to achieve a highly integration for information technology and content. This lead the formation of a variety of specialized databases, and the international competitiveness of enterprises influence greatly enhanced. Domestic media industry is also eager to promote the convergence of traditional media and new media. Now new digital publishing media significantly enhance the influence and market competition.This paper outlines the development of digital publishing business from international and domestic environment, and summarizes several mainstream digital publishing business modes especially through examples which describe advanced experience of digital publishing business modes from the large foreign Publishing Group. Through the theoretical analysis of the business mode, especially for the digital publishing business mode, as well as the analysis of problems for traditional news publishers who developing digital publishing business, this paper summarizes the digital business model type for electric power industry based on value chain, and presents the primary building form of digital publishing business mode for electric power industry. Large commercial project for digital publishing of electric power industry is preliminary designed, and finally, the significance and ways of digital publishing business transformation and upgrading for vigorously promoting the power industry is proposed.This paper, based on the power industry, hopes to provide a reference for the technology industry of the traditional news publishing unit to build digital publishing business mode. The author proposes building a sustainable business mode of digital publishing is not the development of several successful digital publishing products, but the construction of digital publishing industry chain fundamentally, achievement of their own digital transformation and upgrading, construction of large-scale digital content production model, the formation of the backbone of large-scale production of digital products under product support.
