Material management, as an important part of the storage system, has a pivotal role on warehouse operation. How to reduce cost, ensure safety and stable operation, meet the needs of the people of Shanxi electric power, and is a severe issue of Shanxi Province electric power company. In the power grid enterprise, material management not only has a far-reaching influence on power grid construction, more to the stability and maintenance of power grid.Through comprehensive analysis on material management and warehousing management at home and abroad, combining the reality of electric power system and Shanxi Province electric power company, the paper introduced the basic theory of warehouse management from the main activity of warehouse management, warehouse management process, warehouse management system, warehouse management rules, warehouse management model, warehouse management methods. Combine current situation of warehousing management of electric power company, using present situation analysis, the paper summarized the main existing problems and shortcomings of Shanxi Province electric power company warehouse management, mainly including warehousing management strategy, storage function control, storage and distribution network planning, inventory management, warehouse and operation management, transportation and distribution management, information system construction, personnel management and performance appraisal. This paper established the multi-objective optimization model of power companies storage system based on improved genetic algorithm model. Case analysis verified that this storage system based on improved genetic algorithm to optimize multi-objective optimization model is practical. Combined with existing problems in Shanxi Province electric power company warehouse management, the paper proposed optimization design of Shanxi Province electric power company warehouse system, mainly including the following aspects:strengthening warehouse management organization control, completing network stationing, promoting informatization construction, developing scientific spare parts reserve quota, perfecting management system and business process, infrastructure and equipment, and improving staff job skills. Combine case analysis with theoretical research, the paper put forward the problems and insufficiency that exist in the Shanxi Province electric power company warehouse management, and set up storage system optimization design scheme, which have important guiding significance for storage system management of electric power company.
