With the rapid development of warehousing industry, the competition betweenwarehousing companies is becoming more and more fierce.Optimization of warehousingoperations will help the company to reduce operating costs and improve core competitiveness.Based on the KY Storage-Center (SinoTrans Integrated Logistics Company), this paperfocuses on the problems of goods location optimizationplan and order-picking optimization.Firstly, we analysed the operation system of KY Storage-Center, and then, we contiunedto analyze the status of goods location assignment and order-picking activies, we found that inKY Storage-Center, the goods are allotted to different locations randomly, and there areinvalid path in order-picking activities, it means that we can work out some methods tooptimize the goods location assignment and order-picking activities to reduce the operationcost.By optimizing the goods location assignment, we use ABC-method at first. We classifyall the goods in KY Storage-Center into different sorts, and based on that, we divide theStorage-Center into different areas. And then, we establish a Multi-objective model, andanalyze the conflicting between different functions to set the weights of these functions, at last,we solve the model by GA.By optimizing the order-picking activities, we fisrtly establish two different kinds ofPath-Optimization model, and we apply these two models to a case. The result shows that:these two models can reduce the length of order-picking path by9%-13%. In the follow partsof this paper, we built two Location-Optimization model, and also, we apply these two modelsto a case, and we find that comparing to the model which the turnover rate is the only factcorthat being taken into consideration, these two models can save the length of order-pickingpath by3.1%~13.8%.
