Rotary kiln is one of the most important cement equipments, which undertake themission of CaCO3decomposition and clinker formation. Rotary kiln has the characteristics ofnonlinear, time-varying, large time delay and strong coupling. At the same time, the frequentchanges of working condition, lack of measuring point and huge gap between domestic andforeign cement production line might be the direct reasons, which make the foreign advancedcontrol system can not be applied in domestic cement company. Based on the research ofdomestic and foreign rotary kiln control system, this paper provides several optimizationalgorithms to achieve control parameters for the operators, aim to make the rotary kilnworking at the optimum condition. The first step is to realize the setting of the optimumparameter of rotary kiln process. The second step is to realize automatic control in differentcontrol loop via intelligent control algorithm. Finally, we can improve the quality of clinkerand reduce the coal consumption.On the basis of the cement production process, we develop the production processoptimization control system of rotary kiln. In this paper, the main tasks are as follows:(1) Optimization control system of rotary kiln adopts the idea of optimization afterstability. The links of cement rotary kiln parameters are numerous, and there also has a strongcoupling among these parameters. In this paper, we divide rotary kiln control system intorotary kiln parameters setting system and rotary kiln automatic control system. The rotary kilnparameters setting system gives the set value of optimal process parameters at the currentcondition. And the rotary kiln automatic control system will make the parameters steady at theoptimization setting value to make the kiln system efficient and realize energy saving.(2) Rotary kiln parameters setting system: Based on the cement process and link of thecoupling relationship among the rotary kiln variables, we collect large numbers of data fromcement production field and extract the key process parameters. Then we cluster the key datavia data mining technology to obtain different kinds of effective data. Based on the currentcondition we can get the set value of optimal process parameters and then we can confirmthem by fuzzy correction, which is according to the f-Cao content.(3) Rotary kiln automatic control system: Rotary kiln automatic control system contains three control loops: smoke chamber temperature control, kiln head pressure control and kilnspeed control. According to the control characteristics of smoke chamber temperature and kilnhead pressure, we design an intelligent control system contains variable integral PIDcontroller, trend controller, deviation controller and feed forward controller. This controlsystem can identify different conditions automatically through the intelligent selection switchand select the appropriate control strategy to make the kiln system stable. According to thecontrol characteristics of kiln speed, we design the kiln speed ration control module at normalconditions and compensation module at abnormal conditions.(4) Finally, we develop the software of rotary kiln optimization system via controlscheme, which include OPC Client software, configuration software interface of operatorsstand and the software of rotary kiln optimal control algorithm.
