Rotary kiln is key equipment to the pellet production. The stability of the temperaturefield is the important factors that influence the pellet quality and energy consumption. Thetemperature field under effective control has been the hot topics in the study of pelletproduction line. Because pellet rotary kiln system is more complex, is a large-inertiasystem, is a large-time delay system, so the temperature control of the rotary kiln has alsobeen a difficult problem. In this paper, the problem of intelligent control about pellet rotarykiln temperature field based on Ansteel will be discussed. The core content is summarizedas follows:At first, the mathematical model about temperature and fuel has been build. It drawssupport from production practice, field data and Matlab toolbox. It is the necessaryfoundation of the designing of intelligent controller.Secondly, for the optimization of PID control parameter, PSO algorithm has beenapplied. It provided not only the data basis for the design of intelligent controller, but also,it improves the control precision of the controller.After finishing the model and optimization of PID parameters, according to thecharacteristics of the pellet rotary kiln temperature field and the different status ofmaterials, different control strategy has been applied. When the change of material is thenormal range, fuzzy PID algorithm has been chose.By means of the simulation, we canfind the effectiveness and advantages of the fuzzy PID algorithm contrasting traditionalcontrol strategy.When the change of material exceeds the normal range, by summing up experience,the control strategy of expert system has been chose. In order to establish the knowledgebase, ACCESS has been chose. High-level language has been applied for designinginference engine and the human-computer interaction interface. The application of thiscontrol policy, not only avoids the uncertainty of staff, but also excavates the potentialintelligence. It provides excellent experience to fully automation of pellet production line in the future.
