As a non-professional person of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), I can’t understandhow a doctor can know someone has got a lesion just by touching their radial artery with his (orher) fingers, which is so-called “palpation”. In addition, the diagnosis given by different doctorsvary from person to person. As a student majoring in electronic, I want to make a device that can find out the connectionbetween pulse condition and diseases by getting some scientific data that people are believe in.There are so many useful devices and technologies which can help us to achieve our ideas in thisera we live in.Using as diagnostic auxiliary equipment, the palpation device can collect all the pulsecondition information and the corresponding disease of the patients whom the doctor hasdiagnosed and transmit the information to a database that is created according the analysis of therelation between pulse conditions and illness. In this project, according to the physical attribute of the pulse, PZS001, one kind sensorcalled Bare Piezo Stacks with Strain Gauge is used to acquire pulse signal like doctor’s finger. And the sensor can convert the vibration signal into voltage, but the voltage values are too weakand noisy to be detected and processed. In order to get a series of pure and strong signals, apower amplifier with filter capacitors is needed. Then with the help of NI’s Data AcquisitionPlatform, these signals will be converted into other format which can be recognized by computer. At the same time, we can carry out operations such as signal analysis, signal condition, as well assignal storage using the program written in LabVIEW.After several months of efforts, I have finished the work. Through several times tests, thisdevice can do most of the expected things from data acquisition to data storage. In addition, thedata and waveform are stable and regular enough to be used to do further analysis.
