With the rapid development of modern technology, the needs of communitybecomes diverse and the update cycle machinery manufacturing products are gettingshorter, so that the the vast majority of companies have changed to variety, small batchproduction. Group technology is a good choice to get rid of the difficulties caused byvariety, small batch production, meanwhile obtain economic benefits of massproduction. The P6software is an enterprise-class project management software. Thispaper tries to give a solution to make it not just for project management, but also has thefunction of computer-aided process planning.In this paper, it regarded Tonghe Company’s products as the research object. Itdesigned and researched group technology information management system based onP6. The article first described the development and analysis of group technology and P6project management software in and out of our country. After expounding the principlesof group technology, it analysed several common principles of group technologycode-classification system. It also constructed BZGY group technology code-classification system based on the structure features of Tonghe Company’s products.The structure of the code-classification system is concise and focuses more on processinformation. In order to build group technology information management system basedon P6, it first analysed the structure and exploitation of system and planed various partsof the system maintenance staff responsibilities. Then it defined the building of thesystem database, the processing of entry information and information structure in the P6architecture. Given the principle of the system reasoning machine and defined thenumber of characters, it finally realizeed the reasoning machine by procedures. Itoffered two mode selections for different categories users. At the same time, it providedP6filters and the secondary development of software coding system for processdesigners to retrieve in the system. With the help of BZGY plug-ins, it finally added toprocess design assistance function to P6system.This group technology information management system based on P6developed thesoftware deficiencies in the process of information management, sloving the problem ofrelying on designers’ experience and professional knowledge in craft.
