The principal types of the high-grade highways in our country are asphalt pavement. The gradation of asphalt mixture decides the utilization characteristics of asphalt pavement, and the percentage of aggregate in the common asphalt mixture covers more than90percent, thus the characteristics of aggregate, to a great extent, decides the performance ofasphalt mixture. For this reason, the strict control of the stability of the aggregate gradationis the basis of producing the qualified asphalt mixture as well as the principal test content inthe production of it.This paper designs an image acquisition platform for the backlight of aggregateparticle image information acquisition, which can avoid the natural light and indoor lightconditions and the aggregate interference of shadow for post image processing, and theparticle image is clear and accurate, the edge is sharp. The histogram shows the obviousbimodal characteristic, reduce the difficulty of threshold segmentation processing and at thesame time improve the data accuracy of particle analysis. This paper, with the help of digital image processing technology and virtual instrumenttechnology, uses LabVIEW software programming to process the aggregate particle digitalimages and automatically extract image information and morphological characteristics ofaggregate particles such as particle size, particle area, boundary perimeter, external rectangle, feret diameter, equivalent rectangular, and through these morphological information, theaggregate particle size, angularity, surface texture can be appraised. This paper, by obtaining the morphological characteristics of information ofaggregate particles, by choosing appropriate characterization for particle size grading andquality calculation, realizes the detection of aggregate gradation. And by the analysis of thecharacteristics of images to analyze the possible sources of error, and by designing gradingtest, the error source analysis results are verified. This paper, by designing error correctionscheme, verifies the accuracy of the error analysis in the real gradation test, the errorcorrection results are significant and the grading accuracy is substantially increased.
