Infrared thermal imaging detection technology is a kind of non-contact NDT technology. The application of Infrared thermal imaging detection technology is becoming more widely used in manufacturing fieldsl.The early damages on asphalt pavement have a close correlation with construction temperature of asphalt mixture. The construction temperature of asphalt mixture is important parameters in the process of construction. The discharge temperature plays a crucial role in all temperature parameters of asphalt mixture. But the discharge temperature is always affected by the temperature in the process of production preparation. The traditional thermometer insert into the discharge material stack to measure the temperature. However, now this method can’t meet the needs of operation quality.So our research group carried out the relevant research, as to make the thermal infrared imager developed in width and depth of the domestic research and application.In this article, we have used thermal infrared imager to detect the temperature of asphalt mixture in the process of production preparation. The study will be made in the following scopes:1.Overviewing of the development of infrared thermal imaging detection technology at home and abroad. And then introduce the fundamental, temperature measurement methods and selection principles of the thermal infrared imager. Summarizing and analyzing the application of Infrared thermal imaging detection technology in engineering field.2.Analyzing the date of infrared thermal image. Then selecting measuring angles from many factors to research influence on the result, and establishing the correct firing rate equation to set the emissivity of the infrared thermal imager to eliminate the error by changing measuring angles.3.Utilizing fluid analysis software Fluent complete numerical simulation of flow field within the drying drum;getting the temperature of radial and axial of drying drum; calculating the thermal efficiency of drying drum. 4.Using the thermal infrared imager to detect the temperature of outer wall of drying drum and analyzing the temperature of outfalls of drying drum. And then calculating the temperature of inside distribution wall of drying drum by heat transfer principle. Compararing the temperature of drying drum with the results of simulation analysis. The simulation results are almost consistent with the results measured in experiment.5.Using the thermal infrared imager to detect the temperature of discharge asphalt material flow and asphalt material into dump truck. Through the comparison of the results from the experiment and discharge mouth readings, coming to a conclusion that discharge flow temperature can not only reflect the real material temperature, but also can reflect the proportion of asphalt mixture which conforms to the requirement of the temperature range.
