It has important theory meaning and realizing value that the detection of the asphalt mixture is used in the asphalt surface road's employing. But the traditional test methods are mostly manual operation, operation-complex, time-consuming, and the test result is object to the human errors. Therefore, using the DIP technology in the detection of the asphalt mixture is a intelligent method and has the important significance.This paper studies the digital image processing technology in the detection of the asphalt mixture. After analyzing and comparing the characteristics of the methods, it establishes the detection system of asphalt mixture based on VC.NET. This system main function is processing analysis to the asphalt mixture image. First, the system through the image gray processing, image enhancement and image smoothing to preprocessing asphalt mixture image, second, by the adoption of image binaryzation and mathematical morphology processing, to separating aggregate particles, and finally through the edge tracking, to extracting feature and calculating parameters on aggregate particle.This paper extracts geometric features of the asphalt mixture, and according to the aggregate particle area to calculate the passing rate and sieve residue of the asphalt mixture. Then the paper through comparison and analysis of design gradation and detection gradation to obtained their correlation. Meanwhile, the paper through the gray scale difference of aggregate, void and filler to separate them from the mixture and calculate their volume proportion.
