The application of image processing technology was discussed in this paper, based onin-depth analysis of mineral gradation detection technology. The problems to slove wasestablished after analysis of the current detection techniques mentioned. A line scan camerasmineral admixture image acquisition program has been proposed as an auxiliary light sourcewith an infrared laser. System hardware and software design for this program is given. Lastly, test data from laboratory and construction site verified the feasibility of the system. The images acquired before the asphalt mixture mixing used to mineral mixturegradation detection was mentioned in article. Mineral aggregate sampling system can beadapted to different mineral admixture flow. The image acquisition hardware system can beset up in the top of the hopper conveyor. A software can control hardware was designed also.A large number of tests for detection of gradation was carried out using this system, and someof the problems was found. The program to improve the image quality was presented in thearticle. The image taken by linear CCD under LCD light was analysied. Acquisition system uselaser light as auxiliary light source because of the Unstable lighting of construction site. Theimage obtained in two different additional light sources were compared and analyzed. Finally, laser and camera were installed in the same direction. Next, we carried out the selection andoptimization of the hardware modules, software design, implementation and testing.Transmission distance of the camera data has been extended since the photoelectric adaptermodule was used for data transmission. Mathematical model from Two-dimensional imagedata to the three-dimensional aggregate gradation is derived. Test data to verify the validity ofthe model. Difficulties need to be considered in the promotion of this study was illustrated atthe end of the article. This may provide a reference for further study.
