With the development of information technology, the library is impacted by thewave of information technology and internet revolution as a gathering place ofknowledge and information. With the increase in the number of books and readers,traditional books location information cannot meet the demand of readers to findefficient access to books. Especially in the university library with high visit volume,readers’ disorderly books placing led to the phenomenon that books’ actual location arenot consist with their location information. In order to meet readers’ demand,establishing self-service management system with RFID is very necessary.Firstly,we expound current situation domestic and overseas detailedly based on alot of papers of intelligent management system with RFID in library, especially thesituation in foreign countries.Secondly, we conduct a research on many domestic cities and university library ofmodern management system, specific the analysis for current benefits for the libraryafter the introduction of RFID technology. Then based on the existing problem, thesystem needs improvement in several points. According to the principle of stability,reliability, security, we designed the architecture of intelligent systems based on theoperational principles of intelligent library. We improved the borrow-return module anddesigned the process of borrow-return operation in the self-service library system. Forthe convenience of the reader, we added some function like the authentication ofidentity before borrowing, the printing of books borrowing details, the printing of booksreturning details, self-help books payment and so on.In this paper, according to the feature of RFID that the identification and tracking,book positioning function of literature retrieval system has been designed. The systemprovides web-based literature retrieval function, which can position the books in thelibrary. In the process of realize the book positioning function, the positioning shelvesof books is designed, which can greatly reduce the number of readers and reduce thecost of the library. In addition, area searching method is proposed, which greatlyreduced the workload of positioning books and the time of positioning. Finally, the content of the work completed in this paper are summarized, at thesame time, the next step of improvement is expected.
