Library RFID Technology Application Research In China

Information era, because of the increasing people’s demand for information, and the library management system based on magnetic stripe and bar code technology, its traditional service is not enough. So the library introducing new technology, it is necessary to change the existing service dilemma.RFID technology has the recognition distance, read and write speed, long service life, high data security, ability to adapt to the environment, small volume, easy to encapsulate advantages,as its these unique advantages, RFID technology has been widely used in social fields. With the continuous development of RFID technology and the lower the cost, its application scale will be more and more widely.Although the current library has been transition from pure manual way to digital management mode, which recognised of the magnetic stripe and bar code, but there are still many problems and have to properly solve them. RFID technology can not only solve many problems of modern library, can also provide convenient type of independent services for library readers, the technology can improve the work efficiency of the librarians at the same time also can release a lot of labor. Early introduction of the technology of developed countries, the main development of the basic function of the technology, applied to the circulation and security of books, China has realized the unique advantages of the technology in the library, gradually introduce and promote the application of the technology.This paper first reviews the development of RFID technology in library at home and abroad, on this basis, summed up the advantages of application of RFID technology and has a practical significance in the library.Then this paper discusses the definition, components and working process of RFID technology. The basic application in library has:self-help service, intelligence inventory, book smart positioning and anti-theft security door. Self-help service can replace the traditional staff borrow, renewal, such operation can save the operation time of the readers, reduce the workload of staff, and speed up the circulation of the books;Intelligence inventory can not only ensure the accuracy of the inventory data, also can reduce the complexity of shelf inventory; Book smart positioning to achieve the readers find the demand for books, also convenient for staffs daily book checking and arranging work; Intelligent security guard can effectively guarantee the safety of the books.Then taking Shenzhen library and the city university of Hong Kong library as examples, introduces in detail the application of RFID in our country’s libraries and analyzes its application effect. Shenzhen library is mainly used in the circulation service, reading service, self-service library, book sorting and book acquisition, processing, catalog, etc., and to innovate library RFID technology application, developed the first generation and second generation of intelligent book car and set up the independent library of city blocks; And comprehensive application of the RFID technology to the city university of Hong Kong library self-help service, media resources in the library self-service counter service and information technology services, also according to the school library collection and the actual situation of library service, library departments and business process for the adjustment, has realized the integration of library resources, improve the quality of the library service.The article next talks Anhui university library implement RFID project planning. Conducted a survey for library readers’and managers’RFID application requirements; According to the survey, summed up the library should follow the principle of serving readers, gradual extension principle and principle of construction of professional team, as well as combination of librarians’ basic needs and the extension of the reader demand, further planning Anhui university library RFID implementation projet, mainly divided into three stages:investigation stage, commission stage, and effectiveness evaluation stage.And then some advices are given in this paper, think that the library should on the basis of full understanding RFID for the concrete implementation plan; On the basis of the basic function of the active introduction of technology, and innovation potential function; Depending on the technology as the means, to serve the readers as the fundamental; The library must seize the opportunity and have the courage to challenge; Wisdom library is the inevitable trend of library development in the future, thus analyzed the wisdom of the library based on RFID technology meaning, characteristics and significance of building. Finally this paper summarizes the full text, and put forward the deficiency of writing the paper, and look forward to the future application of RPID technology in the libraries in our country, and put forward a new generation of library form, namely "wisdom" library.
