As an important method to study large mechanical transmission system’s dynamiccharacteristics under various loads and work environment, Torque measurement attachgreat importance to more experts and engineer technician. With the development oftorque measurement technology, though many torque sensors are developed, but there’sstill no effective detection scheme in the face of harsh work environments such as hightemperature, strong vibration, strong electromagnetic interference etc. Therefore, manyexperts and scholars commit themselves to develop a new torque sensor andmeasurement system both at home and abroad.The paper is part of the research content of the NSFC project “Research on theprinciple of the ring-space array based on the spherically symmetric and the principalofelectromagnetic induction” and the project of Natural Science Foundation ofChongqing “Research on dynamic characteristics of mechanical transmission systemunder extremeenvironment”. Based on the analytical investigation of actual domesticand international development condition of dynamic torque measurement ofmechanical equipment under harsh environments, and according to working needs ofthe ring-space array sensor under high temperature, high humidity, strong corrosion,strong vibration and other extreme environment, and combine with the sensor’s workprinciple and output signal characteristics, we carry out a research onthe method ofdataprocessing based on measurement system of ring-space array torque sensor, thenon-contact torque measurement system can apply to mechanical transmission spindleunder extreme environment dynamically,and carry on the design and optimizeabouthardware and software of measurement system. We propose a method by using adaptivefiltering to deal with the signal based onthefeature of output signal for measuringsystem.Firstly, we analyze the basic structure and working principle about the annular ballgridtorque sensorintensively, and hardware of data acquisition system is designed andoptimized. It includes signal conditioning module, power supply module, controlmodule,A/D conversion module and communication module.Each designment ofsoftware process ofmodules are analyzed.Secondly, this paper proposes the adaptive filtering method of processing signal,which aims at some overlap between annular ball grid torque sensor output signal frequency and noise frequency while the average digital filter output signal filteringeffect is not an ideal problem. We design the least mean square (LMS) error algorithmadaptive filter and variable step-size least mean square error algorithm (VSSLMS)adaptive filter based on the LabVIEW platform, and carry on the contrast simulationand test experiments that make the collected signal filtered by VSSLMS adaptive filter.Finally, we set up a torque experimental measurement platform which is based onring-space array torquesensorfor system debugging and the experiment by thesimulation. Wedo test experiments that make the collected signal filtered by VSSLMSadaptive filter. Experimental results show that VSSLMS adaptive filter can removenoise effectively for measuring in the ring-space array torquesensor torque sensor, andenables output signal to reach ideal state.
