In recent years, domestic and foreign scholars have studied and designed manytypes of torque sensors, some of them have been widely used in the development anddesign, the state detection and diagnosis diagnostics of machinery and equipment.However, in related torque measurement study, it has few study of torque measurementin some special industrial environment, such as high humidity, high temperature, strongimpact and corrosion. In the paper, the existing annular space array torque sensor, atorque sensor designed to work in exceptional industrial environments, has been studiedin depth by analysis of its structure and principle, and the paper suggestscountermeasures against deficiencies.Firstly, the paper discusses the torque measurement method by indirectlymeasuring the torsion angle of circular shaft; then, it sums up the characteristic of theexisting annular space array torque sensor,makes a detailed analysis of the function andthe design of every component of the sensor, models the sensor, and elaborates thetorque measuring principle of the sensor.Secondly,the paper analyzes the disadvantage of the sensor and its cause from theangle of sensor’s structure and proposes an efficient method of structural optimizationdesign; then, the structural optimization of the sensor is done from the following aspects,such as the annular space array, measurement head, the overall structure, the sensorparameter optimization method, and built the signal output model of the optimizedsensor; lastly, it makes a comparison between the original sensor and the optimizedsensor.Finally, a model of the optimized torque sensor is established by Ansoft Maxwelland analyzed, the result of which shows that: Annular space array shell made ofmagnetic material helps to improve the output signal strength of the sensor, and do notaffect the magnetic circuit modulation results of the annular space array. Then, amechanical testing platform for optimized torque sensor structure model is built, themeasuring experiment of the torque measurement is equivalent to the experiment of thetorsion angle based on the torque measurement method, and the experimental resultsshows that: The structure optimized sensor works reliably, its measuring accuracy areincreased, and its ability of withstanding radial vibration are better than the original one,which is expected to provide a solid foundation for practical application of rotation shaft torque measurement in exceptional circumstances.
