In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese industrial economy, all sectorsput forward higher requirements to the thickness accuracy and precision of plate and strip,but in our existing strip mill, a large part of the installed capacity and control level of themill is not high. On the terms of installed controller,if the conventional PLC is used toprocess control, then it is difficult to achieve the required speed. In order to complete theclosed-loop system, high speed closed loop module must be equipped with. As a result, thecost will increase dramatically.The author and the research team developed a device that designed for strip millautomatic gauge control based on a PIC microcontroller. In this paper, the upper and lowercomputer communications hardware circuit was in-depth research, then designed thehardware circuit of AGC communications systems, and made improvements to part of theperipheral interface circuit on the basis of experiments, draw a four-layer PCBboard.According to the requirements of the upper and lower machine transmissiondistance in rolling scene, RS-485half-duplex communication system was been used forAGC data transmission. Reference OSI protocol model, using hierarchical structures toprepare by the physical layer, data link layer and the application communication protocol,according to CRC algorithm to checksum the data,the reliability of communicationssoftware was improved, so that the communication data transmission error rate is reducedto0.0047%or less. According to the requirement about the status of monitor on rollingsite, PC monitor interface was been designed to achieve a real-time on-site data collectionand curve display based on VB6.0development platform.On real-time data stored in therolling, rolling schedule historical data store and retrieve software was compiled based onSQL database, the experiment proved that you can achieve a lot of storage and real-timerequirements of the data.
