Advancements in computing technology-including increasing microprocessorspeed and hard drive storage capacity have provoked an explosion of data comingin at a blistering space. In test and measurement field, the engineers and scientistsput forward higher requirements for data collection rates, storage capacity andresolution. As an extension of PCI Express Bus in the instrument field, PXI Expresstechnologies provide faster streaming to disk rates, especially the Peer-to-Peertechnology can improve the data transfer rates more efficiently. Given this, thispaper developes a PXI Express data acquisition and storage system based onpeer-to-peer technology.Based on the design goals, the overall scheme of the system is made. Inhardware design, the high-speed data acquisition card uses ADC08D1520as the keychip to realize the acquisition of dual channel/single channel signal, and usesLMX2541SQ3030E to provide a high-quality, low-jitter sampling clock, and usesADC front input circuit to adjust the input signal to meet the requirements of theADC input range. The DDR2SDRAM is used as the large-capacity data buffer. The PCI Express Endpoint Block is used to design the PXI Express interface. PXIExpress solid state data recorder which consists16Nand Flash components ischosen as the storage system. In logic design, the Xilinx SelectIO technology isused to receive the ADC differential data, and the MIG IP is used to control theDDR2SDRAM. The DMA engine and Peer-to-Peer engine are designed based onPCI Express Endpoint Block. In software design, LabWindows/CVI and NI-VISAare used to design the application program and PXI Express driver program. At last the performance testing of the system is presented. The testing resultsshow that the system has high dynamic performance, and the bandwith exceeds800MHz, and the ENOB exceeds6.5bit. The Peer-to-Peer write speed is about846.6MB/s and the read speed is about789.1MB/s, it meets the design requirements.
