In modern war, the efficiency of a campaign depends on the highly efficientactivities of maintenance and support. Due to the increasing complexity of techniqueand diversity of categories, the maintenance and support of equipment become moreand more important. The main work is satisfying maintenance support activities withresources like personnels, accessories and so on, within given time under theconsideration of the demand of campaign task. With the increasing of the requirementof united and accurate support, equipment maintenance support system which is discreteand isolated develops to a complex equipment mainrenance support network. Whetheror not the equipment maintenance support nerwork can form a holistic supportcapability has great effect on the efficiency of the war. Consequently, the primary workof this paper is evaluating the capability of maintenance support network. At the sametime, the evaluation parametersare are studied, the Petri net-based modeling andsimulation method is given and a case is analyzed by it.Firstly, the structure and dynamic processes of maintenance support network aregiven. It is the Petri net method which was chosen to describe and analyze the units anddynamic processes of maintenance support network. Further, a new, advanced Petri netwhich has multi-state places and capacitated transitions is defined to describe and modelthe multi-state maintenance support network.Secondly, two parameters, the degree of task completion and multi-statetwo-terminal reliability, are chosen as the criterion to evaluate the capability ofmaintenance support network. Then, the Petri net based simulation environment andsimulation process of maintenance support network are introduced. The simulation ofmaintenance support network is realized by programming.Finally, a real case is given to test and verify the evaluating method mentionedbefore.At the same time, the degree of completion of task and the degree of completionof support are obtained.
