With the development of science and technology, equipment support plays a very important role in the whole life cycle of the equipment. Maintenance support capabilities of the maintenance support system directly affect the mission success rate when equipments execute the combat mission. On one hand, because maintenance support process is very complex and changeable, using traditional analytical methods to analyze it is very complicated. On the other hand, the Petri net is highly descriptive and easily extensible in describing complex systems.Therefore, this paper combines simulation methods and the Petri net to study maintenance support process.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)A multi-view model of the maintenance support system is proposed based on the analysis of concepts and requirements of the maintenance support system. At first, a model structure is given made up of task view, equipment view, the support organization view, maintenance resource view and process view. Then each view is modeled and analyzed with mathematical description method. At last, the relationships between each view are described.(2) A modeling and simulation approach based on CSPN for maintenance support process in the case of single maintenance task is proposed. Entities, maintenance activities and the whole maintenance support process are modeled based on CSPN.Based on that model, a simulation algorithm is given for maintenance support process in the case of single maintenance task. Simulation results are analyzed by calculating the operational availability and maintenance resource demand in order to evaluate maintenance support capabilities.(3) A modeling and simulation approach based on CSPN for maintenance support process in the case of multiple maintenance tasks is further proposed by extending the model in section (2). By bringing in queuing system and anti-lock algorithm for competing resources, a simulation algorithm is given for maintenance support process in the case of multiple maintenance tasks considering the priorities of maintenance tasks and resource conflicts. The calculation method of the operational availability and the spare fill rate in the case of the simulation algorithm is given to make it more realistic.(4) A maintenance support process simulation system is designed and implemented. The development environment, database design and module division are described.The functional interfaces of the system are demonstrated in the context of a hypothetical example.
