As the living standards raise under the influence of a booming economy, thenumber of auto mobiles in the city also increases quickly. Traffic jams and lack ofparking lots are imminent problems. Consequently, using contemporary technology toannounce city traffic trends, increasing the traffic efficiency, and channeling the trafficflow are some important aspects of city transit development. The paper focuses on a solution for the lack of variety in the publishing of traffictrends, and uses technologies such as GPS,3G communication, cloud service, GISand smart phone implantation to design and create a system that keeps track of theavailability of public parking spaces. This design bases itself off of an Internet cloudservice structure, and allows the spreading of a multidimensional information onpublic parking. Moreover, it improves city traffic development and enhances citytraveling experience. The paper briefly introduces a background information on the Public ParkingInformation System Based on Cloud Service, the current progress on the research ofthe topic both in China and abroad, and finally discusses the practicality of the designwith the consideration of ITS, WebGIS, Cloud Service technologies and so on.Moreover, the paper sums up the user demands, devises a general system architectureand a logical frame based on Cloud service, and lays out the features and functions ofthe system. The paper describes the implement process of collecting and processingdata in great detail according to the proposed solution. Finally the paper explains theapplied of the system and its test results. This Public Parking Information SystemBased on Cloud Service has already beenrealized and put to actual use. From the results so far the system is fast in set-up, has abroad coverage, low in cost, and opens to a greater population, therefore meeting amajority of the requirements of a live city public transit system.
