With the economic growth, the number of car in our cities increases rapidly and parking problems become bigger and bigger. It not only makes higher demands on road constructions but also more parking lots will be needed. However, the existing systems are mainly concentrated on collection fees or whether it is full, and has bad efficiency. Most of the current parking lot can not provide good parking guidance and information system and so dose the monitor system.This thesis proposes a design and implementation for a parking lot of intelligent parking management system based on the ZigBee technique and infrared detection. First of all, the thesis analyzes the superior of using the ZigBee wireless sensor networks and all layers of the ZigBee protocol are introduced.In the second part, the thesis discusses the components of all the modules and the relationship in this intelligent parking management system. At last, we show the key technology for the system, which includes the hardware and software design. In this system the chip CC2430 and infrared receiving terminals are used to monitor the parking lots. The whole system is made of sensor nodes, routers and parking lot car keys. And with the harmonizer, the network connects with the master computer to collect data by the RS-232 serial port.Through our tests, the system described in this thesis works correctly even in lower light intensity. The proposed system has a good anti-noise performance and has practical application value. The system can also be used in a large scale network and runs low cost. It's a good solution for the management in the big parking lots. Moreover, if we make a little change to the system, it can be applicable to the smart dwelling districts which have aptotic license plates and it also fit for the place with complex category of vehicles such as supermarkets and airports.
