Chinese is an important subject leading to social science. Chinese reading, as a vital tool for people’s daily communication of culture and thoughts, is regarded as an essential skill, an art culture as well as a principal route for accumulation of knowledge and spiritual wealth. According to the new curriculum reform, cultivation of students’ reading ability shall be reinforced; meanwhile their language literacy can be enhanced with inspiration gained during reading. However, teaching of current Chinese reading in senior high school makes little achievement, and teacher’s method for reading instruction hasn’t been fundamentally changed, making students’reading ability remain what it was. In current society, with increasing importance attached to Chinese reading and its great proportion in Chinese of College Entrance Examination, teaching of Chinese reading has becomes the most significant subject.This paper takes No.8 Middle School as the research subject to analyze the status quo and identify the problems based on current Chinese reading instruction practices in senior high school through the questionnaire method, documentary method, interviewing method and cases analysis so as to put forward effective teaching method for Chinese reading. This paper consists five parts. The first part mainly introduces the purpose and significance, research status, research scopes and methods. The second part describes the requirements of the new curriculum standard for Chinese reading instruction in senior high school, emphasizing on the relevant concepts and requirements of reading teaching in the new curriculum standard of Chinese. The third part investigates the current situation of Chinese reading teaching in No.8 Middle school of Changchun City, mainly focusing on the situation of teaching and classroom learning. The fourth part analyzes the problems appeared in teaching of Chinese reading and its causes of No.8 Middle school, i.e. to analyze from the perspectives of teacher and student. The last part puts forward suggestions on the teaching of Chinese reading in No.8 Middle School of Changchun city.Under the reform of the Chinese teaching, this paper investigates the status quo of Chinese reading instruction in No.8 Middle School of Changchun City, analyzes the problems occurred during the teaching process of Chinese reading, and finally offers proposals for these problems. To improve the teaching method of current Chinese reading on the basis of traditional teaching is of practical significance for helping senior high school teachers to raise their teaching level and to increase students’ interests in learning, hoping to provide helpful references for teachers of Senior high school.
