Extracurricular reading is one of the important to improve reading teaching andsupplement, students choose books to broaden one’s horizon, improve the ability ofreading, the accumulation of writing material and methods, to develop good quality, animportant way to enhance the spiritual realm. But in the actual teaching practice,extracurricular reading lacked "concern" and pay attention to. The plan to carry out theinvestigation of senior high school students in extracurricular reading, draw thefollowing conclusions, the main problems of high school students extracurricularreading are:Firstly, the time which students spend on reading is limited, reading quantity isinsufficient; Although reading interest is very high, but reading level is low; A poorreading habits.Secondly, the teachers ignore the extracurricular reading; Teachers reading less;Teachers, the lack of regulation.Thirdly, the parents did not spend enough time on reading; Family did not provideappropriate books. Parents have utilitarian attitude and motivation.The last one, no play their value to the school library.High school students’ reading development can not leave the multifacetedcooperation and participation. Based on this put forward the corresponding measures, inorder to improve high school students’ reading the status quo, mainly has the followingSuggestions:First, to bring into full play the initiative of students in extracurricular reading.Students should attach importance to extract and reading notes, improve the quality ofthe extracurricular reading; Students have to learn to use reference books, get into thehabit of active learning; Students will form the "resilience" of reading to keep reading.Second, teachers should play a leading role in the extracurricular reading. Based onthe teaching material, the reasonable recommended books; Open reading class forstudents to master reading methods and skills; Arousing students’ interest in reading;5-10minutes before class speaking activities promote extracurricular reading; Teachermust set an example read more books; Encourage, respect students’ understanding and comprehension; Strengthen the communication and contact with their parents.Third, builds a reading sweet campus. Schools should provide rich, a sufficientnumber of books, adjust the library opening hours, carry out various forms of activitiesto promote reading.Fourth,build family reading atmosphere. Parents provide suitable reading materialsfor children, quiet reading environment, change idea, set an example read more books,strengthen the parent-child relationship.Fifth, the whole society read together. The government must strengthen libraryconstruction, mobilization, support social forces to promote reading, encourage supportfor publishing, the media intensify propaganda, create the reading atmosphere.
