Research On The German Image In Senior High School History Textbooks

For most of Chinese senior high school students, Germany is a central Europe country both familiar and strange. Familiarity means senior high school history textbooks presents German image with some certain colors. The description of German history often in a multi-point, segmented and independent manner leads to its strange. Because of these two aspects above, the German image which is constructed by senior high school history textbooks often pale and thin. Therefore, this paper starts with the related description of Germany in every senior high school history textbook which was published after the founding of the PRC to build the corresponding and specific German images. And then, interprets these specific images as a whole. Finally, explores various inspirations comes from the overall interpretation.According to the Sino-German communication history and Germany’s own history, this paper divides the related description of Germany in every senior high history textbook which was published after the founding of the PRC into two parts: "the German in Chinese history" and "the German in world history" to carry on analysis. Among these two parts, researches "the German in Chinese history" from these five aspects:"Mongol army’s west expedition", "Missionaries to the East", "The Triple Intervention", "The Occupation of JiaoZhou Bay", "The Boxer Movement and The Eight-Power Allied Forces". And expolres "the German in world history" from these ten aspects:"Germans in Roman Empire’s period","The fedual states in Medieval Western Europe", "Martin Luther’s Reformation", and so on. Through these above analysis, it is found that the realated description of Germany in every senior high history textbook which was published after the founding of the PRC often focuses on the Boxer Movement and the period of second world war. Finally, after intrgrating those analyses above, this paper puts forward these three suggestions on the senior high school history textbooks compiling:the historical description should be based on facts, the narrative language should be brief, the content description should leave space for thinking. At the same time, this paper also think that a complete introduction of German history is the premise of German image construction, bear in mind the history and put ours eyes on the future is its value orientation, combine content with the reality is its actual requirements.
