For a long time, the teaching of cultural compulsory courses in secondaryvocational school has become the most boring and difficult of both the teachers andstudents, especially the mathematics course. As to this circumstance, the EducationDepartment has revised the syllabus of public compulsory courses like Chinese, math,English, Physics, and Chemistry in2000. Therefore, a new syllabus was promulgatedin January,2009. The Secondary Vocational School Mathematics Syllabus (2009Edition) points out that the math is the public compulsory basic course in secondaryvocational school. The task is to help students to grasp the basic and necessary mathknowledge, which helps students make the foundation of acquiring the professionalknowledge and skills, further study and long-life development. It also defines that thecontent of math is composed of the basic module, professional module and expansionmodule, in which it claims that the basic module is the basic content and requirementfor students in different majors, the professional module is the limited electivecontent for the students of relative majors, and the expansion module is the unlimitedelective content for the students of further education and individual development.Since the announcement of the new syllabus, though many math teachers have madeseveral researches, they do not receive any obvious effects because of differentfactors. There are many reasons of the difficulty of teaching and learning of math, oneof which is that math, being far away from students’ daily life, cannot satisfystudents’ further development.According to the survey of the teachers and students of secondary vocationalschool, this paper analyzes the present situation, the existing problems and thereasons caused the problems of math teaching in secondary vocational school. Basedon the three modules of new syllabus, it designs the curriculum program of math inelectrical major in secondary vocational school, which implements low starting pointteaching to encourage students’ study, and focuses on the interesting and practicalteaching content to serve the specific curriculum. A two-semester teaching researchbased on the basic module and professional module has been done, whose results shows that math teaching based on modules can improve students’ learning attitude, motivate students’ interest towards math learning. The students have increased theirawareness of inquiry towards math obviously rather than acquired the knowledgepassively, which help students to grasp the knowledge they learn and improve theirmath scores. Meanwhile, as the short time of the teaching research, the limitedteaching content, and the limit of module curriculum teaching putting into practiceother basic curriculum, the students cannot completely adapt to the modulecurriculum teaching. Therefore, the result of the research is not obvious. In addition, the expansion module of math has not put into practice, the teaching effect is thenunknown to the students. It still needs further research and exploration to figure outthe way to combine the three modules of math curriculum with specific major andtherefore to serve the specific major. |
