| The Republic of Indonesia (brief Indonesia) is another home for our fellowmen. It is considered to be the most populated country by Chinese. In Indonesia, particularly in Jambi area, there are about 50-60 thousand Chinese people, but due to policy and other factors lag the development of the Chinese language teaching. At present, there is no evident curriculum for Chinese language teaching in Jambi region. The researchers for Jambi region of Chinese teaching in Indonesia has no clear understanding of the situation. In 2015, the author was chosen as one of the volunteers to teach Chinese language in Jambi, Indonesia. In taking this opportunity, the writer was tasked to survey about Jambi area, and hope to learn and know more about the Chinese teaching situation. We have an overall overview about Indonesia-Chinese teaching.Therefore, this paper will attempt to investigate the current situation of Chinese language teaching in Jambi region and how it will make an impact to the future of Chinese Language curriculum of Indonesia.This paper utilized and conducted the study through questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations to Jambi Region 4 Private Schools Chineseteachers. Moreover, the author also conducted a random sampling to choose 100 students in learning Chinese, completed the survey of 4 Private Schools of Chinese language teaching. This paper has also taken into consideration the following factors:current status of Chinese Language instruction in the school, eligibility of the Chinese teachers, instructional materials and the design of the Chinese Language curriculum.From these aspects of composition of teachers and qualifications and teaching strategies, the writer analyzed the problem about teachers. The teaching materials usage, curriculum, students learning and the analysis of the problem, the author recommends that there should be further analysis and studies to be conducted for the development of the Chinese language curriculum in the whole Jambi. |
