This report is based on the translation of the newly-launched book A Walk Across theSun—a fiction on an unforgettable journey through the underworld of modern slavery thatspans three continents and two cultures. The author, Corban Addison, is an American lawyeras well as a human rights activist. A Walk Across the Sun is his first fiction which aims tobroaden his support of international justice through the publication.This report consists of the following four parts. The first chapter is about the taskdescription that introduces the author, the book and the reasons for text selection while thesecond part describes the translating process in detail. The third chapter is about the caseanalysis from the lexical, sentence and passage levels based on Nida’s FunctionalEquivalence Theory, in which I discuss the difficulties I have met in the translating processand the strategies I have applied. And the last part is the conclusions and my newly-acquiredinsight as an MTI candidate. |
